M3C's Cycling Amenity Advocacy Efforts

January 1, 2021.
Mission Community Cycling Coalition (M3C) members are all advocates for cycling in a variety of forms.  And one major project in the mix - a bike pump track and skills park for Mission.

Members of M3C have worked closely with District Staff to get Council to allocate $300,000 in 2021 to design, construct and open a bike skills park including a hard-surface pumptrack.

M3C members wearing their FVMBA hats presented to the Parks & Rec Committee for 5+ years, created and delivered several concept proposals, and did a pro-bono consultants report on location options and park features which informed staff and Council in making this decision.  It was no small feat just to get to the funded stage, but now the fun part begins!  A Request for Proposals will be released in January 2021 with an aim to have the park open by the summer.

In the meantime, M3C is working with Parks & Recreation Staff on a smaller, secondary, soft-surface facility to have a space shovel ready for spring 2021 as well.  It is a great time for bikes in Mission!

M3C is regularly advocating for amenities both large and small in the District.  New bike racks at schools and on First Ave are one of many ways we are working to make it easier and better to ride bikes in Mission.
